The Perfect Season

The Perfect Season
The last of the stars wink out and the sky changes from a deep indigo to a soft pearly grey. Morning light filters through the trees and the first rays of light softly illuminate the delicate foliage turning the muted shades into brilliant accessories. Like vivid jewels they hang waiting for the wind to shake them loose to begin their quiet descent were they slowly mix with the earth filling the air with their thick rich scent. The sweet fragrance entices you out to drink in the heady aroma. Nestled in piles at the base of trees scattered across the ground they lay like fallen gems. Frozen dew drops sparkle like crystals catches your eye and you stop to watch the way they slowly melt in the suns warmth releasing an array of colors in the dawns early light. You can see your breath as you walk along the path listening to the sounds of life embark on a new day. Birds coo and sing flitting about from limb to limb. Slumbering animals awake and begin to scurry about hurrying to finish their harvest gathering in preparation for the long cold days that lay ahead. Carried on the wind are the fair well songs bidding those left behind good bye until another season. Reds and orange and gold dominate the landscape taking center stage pushing the evergreens into the background. You hear the sound of crackling as the leaves crunch beneath your feet. The suns warmth chases away the morning chill warming the ground. A swirling haze of fog rises up in twisted curls and disappears evaporating in the sunshine. Thoughts of hot cider the scent of cinnamon and clovers the taste of apple pie fill your mind. Along the path children race past you school books in tow laughing and shouting hurrying to catch their bright yellow bus. Autumn is like a grand lady who dresses herself in her most splendid finery. Adorning herself in magnificent beauty she stands out more radiantly then her sister’s spring and summer refusing to leave without being noticed. In summers fading glory she shines brightly heralding in the next season. Before the long cold days of winter autumn gives the very best of herself offering warm sun soaked days and cool crisp nights. Too soon do her days pass each one growing more dark then the last until she takes her leave and makes way for winter. Cold rains come loosing the last of her leaves washing them down and away. The forest stands barren and naked against the cold sky and the frost comes everyday. The suns warmth weakens and the last of the autumn blossoms fade away. All the snow birds have flown south for the winter and the animals have long since hidden themselves away curling up to nestle down again for the long night. In your house you sit a warm fire at your feet and a cup of hot cider in your hand. On the table is a leaf painted in hues of red, orange and gold. You remember your walk along the path and the rich dark scent of fall leaves as they crunched under your feet. You curl up in the glow of the fire listening to the wind howl outside and watch the snow flakes softly fall blanketing everything in white and you wait for that first morning light to filter through the trees to once again warm the tiny buds that would soon unfurl and bloom into delicate green foliage. Soon birds will begin to arrive to chirp happily at your window and long slumbering animals will awaken in their dens ready to begin their lives again. Soon the cold dark night of winter will pass and the first warm rays of light will bring spring and the  promise of warm sun filled days.

You may be asking yourself why did she pick washing machines as her back ground picture? The simplest answer is I work at a local laundry mat. Which is kinda funny since I'm the least domestic woman you will meet. I hate to cook, which doesn't mean to say that I can't do it. I cook quiet well when I have the mind to I just try avoiding the task when ever I can. Of course you might not even care why I chose the picture at all but as soon as I saw it I thought that was the picture i wanted. Oh by the way I've pretty much wasted an entire afternoon fiddling around with my blog page. I've never had a blog before so it's like a shiny new toy or more like a new room that you have to decorate. I'm sure I will quickly get bored with how my room looks and some one will read this after the washers are gone and wonder what the hell I'm rambling about.

Random Thoughts: Dark Guardian: "He dragged her from the bed pain rippling through her as she landed on the hard floor. She struck out blindly twisting away from his roaming..."

Heart

In a welded mask it hides.
Wounded and twisted in the corner it sits.
Pounding, thrashing begging for relief.
Tortured and anguished it never speaks.
In drowning silence it slowly withers.
Empty and hollow it softly whimpers.
Ripped out and tossed aside
Hardened and in pain it cries.
Jagged and broken it lies.
Devastated and in ruins it dies.

Dark Guardian

He dragged her from the bed pain rippling through her as she landed on the hard floor. She struck out blindly twisting away from his roaming hands. The floor scraped against her bare skin as she tried to scramble to the door. He grabbed her like she was little more then a rag doll and dragged her by her feet across the room. He was on top of her again pinning her down his weight constricted her lungs crushing her breast to the floor. She struggled beneath him fear numbing her mind slicking her skin with cool sweat. Moonlight streamed through the window illuminating the silent battle. No longer able to fight she turned her head and looked up at the moon while she waited for the pain to come. She could sense the blade cold razor sharp posed above her. In front of her the wall vanished melting away and the floor beneath her disappeared. Fear evaporated like mist clearing her mind. Calmness flowed through her. She could still feel the weight of him pressing her down except now it no longer mattered. This is what she had longed for even if it was only a dream. The scent of decaying leaves and the rich dark smell of earth filled her nostrils. Drinking it in she looked out onto the forest. Movement caught her attention and she focused on the dark shape. He moved silently swiftly through the trees his powerful legs closing the distance between them. Her blood raced and her heart beat with each pounding step he took. He broke through the trees wildly his dark lips peeled back into an angry snarl. Her heart leapt at the sight of him. His dark silhouette crouched and he stared out at her from eyes made silver in the moonlight. He vibrated with an intensity that she could feel from a distance. It stirred her blood made her heart beat faster so that all she could hear now was a loud rushing sound in her ears. She watched in awe as he leapt his hind legs digging deeply into the earth. The sound of glass breaking shattered the vision. Pain, white hot burning pain ripped its way through her like fire stealing her breath, drowning her senses. Warmth spread over her spilled out of her and the metallic sent of blood filled the air. Pieces of glass rained down clinking like wind chimes as they fell. They both watched the dark shape as it sailed through the opening. His dark muzzle curled back ferociously  he snapped and snarled wildly. A guttural primal sound escaped his throat and he landed on top of the man throwing him off. Un able to move she heard the quick shock of breath and the beginning of a cry before it was abruptly silenced. Her vision dimmed and the darkness slowly engulfed her dragging her under. The black wolf nuzzled her whimpering softly in her ear urging her to stay. Throwing his head back he cried in anguish the last sound she heard as she slid into darkness.
